Thomas Schröder, Ph.D., Ph.D., Adjunct Professor


Dr. Thomas Schröder is Adjunct Professor of Finance and since 2007 has been teaching courses on Corporate Financial Management, International Financial Management and Derivatives & Risk Management, at the Luxembourg campus of John F. Welch College of Business, Sacred Heart University.

He is Deputy Head of Division and Managerial Adviser in the Capital Markets Department at the European Investment Bank, where he is responsible for funding in Sterling and in Scandinavian and African Sub-Saharan currencies. Working for the world's largest supranational lender and borrower, he has more than ten years of extensive experience in the international bonds and swaps markets. Dr. Schröder is a member of the EIB’s Pensions Board and as a member of an expert committee he assesses research projects applying for support from the EIB-Universities Research Action program. He previously held an economist position in the Economic and Financial Studies Division.

Formerly with McKinsey & Company, Inc., Frankfurt, Dr. Schröder holds a Ph.D. in economics from Keele University, U.K. and both a Ph.D. and a Diplom degree in physics from Heidelberg University.

Currently Dr. Schröder is conducting research as Fellow at QASER (Quantitative Applied Spatial Economic Research) Laboratory at University College London (UCL).  He is author of academic articles in theoretical particle physics, economics and finance.  Recently Dr. Schröder has collaborated with Assistant Professor, Kwamie Dunbar, Ph.D. to write "Effectively hedging the interest rate risk of wide floating-rate coupon spreads," published in the Journal of Risk Management in Financial Institutions.
