The Blackboard Learning System is an online educational resource that has been implemented into Sacred Heart University’s course curriculum and is an extremely useful communication platform used in both in-class lectures and online courses.

All newly registered students must establish a Blackboard student account upon receipt of their student identification number.

Once the account has been established a sacredheart.edu e-mail address will be generated automatically. The student will then be prompted with the option to maintain the e-mail account or to have all emails forwarded to another e-mail address. Once all phases have been completed, all registered students will have the ability to view their applicable course information via the online Blackboard system.

Creating a Blackboard account is a very easy task. Please follow the instructions provided in order to establish your Blackboard User Account.

How to set up a new student account*:

1. Type https://ams.sacredheart.edu/default.aspx in the location bar in your browser.
2. Click on Set up new network account and e-mail.
3. Enter your Student ID number in the first and second box.
4. Enter your date of birth (mm/dd/yyy).
5. Read the information under Students, then click next.
6. You will be prompted to create a password**.

How to Login to your Blackboard account:

1. Type https://blackboard.sacredheart.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp in the location bar in your browser.
2. Click on the Login to MY SHU - Blackboard link.
3. Enter your username and password.
   

How to access your Blackboard Classes

1. Log into the Blackboard/MySHU System.
2. Locate the My Courses tab.
3. If you are registered for courses and your instructor has requested a Blackboard section, your courses will be listed on this page.*
4. Click on the course to enter.

Blackboard Student Tutorial

Please note: Not all instructors utilize Blackboard. You may be registered for a course that will not be listed on this page. Registering for a course through the Registrar’s office does not guarantee that you will be enrolled in a Blackboard course. Your instructor should inform you if he or she is using the Blackboard system. At times, instructors request a course but do not immediately make it available to the students. If you believe that a course should be listed on this page but you don’t see it, please speak to your professor.

*You will not be able to set up your Blackboard account if you have not registered for courses. Likewise, if you are not enrolled in a course for a period of time, you will not be able to log in to Blackboard.

**Your password will expire every 180 days, if you having an issue logging in, please try resetting your password first. If the problem continues, please contact The Factory.
