Bernard Herman is Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Luxembourg campus of the Jack F. Welch College of Business, Sacred Heart University. He currently teaches a course on Portfolio Management, an MBA program elective.
Bernard Herman works as an independent consultant in Corporate Finance, Risk Management and Restructuring of financial institutions. He is also a non-executive director on the board of a bank, several Private Equity and Hedge funds as well as family offices.
Until 2006, Bernard Herman had occupied several senior positions at Dexia-BIL. During its 16 years at the bank, he managed the investment portfolio of the bank, its ALM and then set up and managed the asset management arm of Dexia. He conducted a dozen of successful acquisitions in the area of asset management and private banking around the world. Before that time, he spent 8 years at Chase Manhattan Bank in Brussels, London and New York where he worked in the ALM, the financial engineering group and the US Institutional asset management entity of Chase, specializing in fixed income and derivatives.
Bernard Herman holds an MBA in Analytical Economics from the University of Namur. He started his career as an econometrician with the energy sector team of Data Resources Inc, in Cambridge Mass., USA. His academic interest lays in non parametric analysis of investment portfolio, and risk management issues.
