In summary, your team management skills are a key factor for individual and organizational success.

US Connections Experience

SHU 2016 US Connections Experience!

July 17 – July 30, 2016: A Great Opportunity for Mind-Stretching Experiences

  • Two Week In-class Summer Session
  • 3 CH Elective Course in Contemporary Issues in Global Management

Our biannual two week seminar and cross-cultural experience for both Luxembourg and USA students will be based at SHU’s Graduate Center in Stamford, Connecticut, USA from July 17  through July 30, 2016.

This team-facilitated inter-disciplinary course, coordinated by Dr. Mary Trefry, will offer opportunities to explore connections in many facets of our world. We’ll discuss how human and technology-enabled connections affect people, organizations, geopolitics, innovation, interdependence of economies, competitive advantage – and much more. For example, we will explore how ‘big data’ analytics are helping to shape what organizations do, how social networking is changing the ways companies interface with their customers, as well as challenges presented when unknown others can affect a company’s reputation and companies can discover more than an employee or individual may want to have known.

Informal round-table dinners will offer opportunities to discuss interesting issues with executives. Several fascinating tours, including the New York Stock Exchange and IBM, will give us insight into how companies are influencing and managing such opportunities/challenges. Class sessions and social events will enable us to enrich our own global connections and friendships – and to hear perspectives that may be different from our own.

Plan also for an opening social event on Sunday, July 17 at 4:30 at the Stamford Sheraton Hotel, where our Luxembourg students will be staying. More details will be available in June but, in the meantime, please contact Alexandra Lewis (alewis@shu.lu) if you would like further information or have any questions.

SHU Student Vijay Tak Proudly Receiving the ICT Start-Up of the Year Award!

For over six months, Vijay Tak, a student in the Welch MBA with Internship program at Sacred Heart University Luxembourg, has been completing his compulsory internship at MyHippocrates, an enterprise by TheMarketsTrust, an innovative start-up based in Luxembourg. MyHippocrates is an all-in-one, cloud-based platform for Medical Data Management, including full EMR for doctors, patients access, and more.

It was great news for Vijay when “his” company was awarded the Start-Up of the Year 2015 Award at the 9th Luxembourg ICT Awards. The Luxembourg ICT awards are held every year at the IT One Gala where individuals and companies are recognized and awarded for their outstanding contribution to innovation in information technologies. Competitors are first selected by a jury of CIOs who evaluate their contribution to innovation. Winners are then decided through a vote by 50 IT executives in the fields of finance, services, industry, construction, trade, healthcare, logistics and government services.

Thanks to a background in IT and well-equipped with a fresh business acumen—acquired during his MBA studies at SHU Luxembourg—Vijay has become a valuable member of the MyHippocrates team. His hard work and dedication to his studies and internship were rewarded when Vijay was chosen as the MyHippocrates team member to receive the award on behalf of the entire winning team.

After graduation in May 2016, Vijay plans to stay in Luxembourg for at least another two years. The Luxembourg government grants all foreign students who’ve successfully completed their master’s degree an additional two years of residency within the Grand Duchy.

We wish him all the success in his already promising career!

SHU Luxembourg is currently recruiting students for the MBA with Internship program. This 16 month program is designed for young graduates from abroad and Luxembourg. It eases the entry for students without work experience into the professional life and facilitates career switches that young professionals may be contemplating. Students complete a six to nine month paid internship by day, and attend courses in the evenings.

SHU Luxembourg boasts an internship roster with the top companies in Luxembourg. With the support of individual coaching and a new mentoring program, SHU is committed to helping students find an internship, where they can find success!
